Refitting The Turbo
You will notice when you try to fit the turbo back onto the exhaust manifold and reconnect the oil lines that the centre could be out of line. It needs to be vertical of course. To do it I just slipped the turbo onto the exhaust manifold with both housings bolts loose, then rotated the assembly a little. Once I did that I took it
back off and tightened everything up.
Happy Driving
Finally Got There
Carby, lines & bonnet all back on. If you haven’t already done it give the car a service while your at it. I’d only done a service 400km’s ago but I still dropped the oil anyway as the old stuff was already black.
Took some ‘start ya bastard’ to get her going but once I got it running and warmed up I noticed an instant change in compression and drivability. Take it easy on your newly rebuilt turbo for a while though. Keep the boost low, and keep your turbo timer on. This will help the bearings and seals set in.
