Transmission:
The Borg Warner five speed manual transmission is standard equipment on the Turbo and as this model uses a rear axle ratio of 3.42:1 (as for 2.6 litre model) a 20 tooth speedometer pinion is needed.
Fuel System:
This model uses a constant depression, sidedraft Zenith carburettor with a manual choke. It operates on the principle of varying the effective area of the choke and jet orifice in accordance with the degree of throttle opening, engine speed and engine load.
Rear Suspension:
The larger rear shockers, first used on the Peter Wherrett Special, carry over to the Turbo.
Exhaust System:
This model uses an all new exhaust manifold onto which the turbine and wastegate are mounted. An E.G.R. take off elbow also screws into the manifold.
As the turbo charger generates its own level of back pressure the exhaust system itself has been designed with a low back pressure muffler and larger diameter tubing to assist gas flow.
Wheels Tyres:
The Montego 15" x 6" JJ wheels, first used on the Peter Wherrett Special, are included in this vehicles specifications. Flutes and cutouts in the wheels are highlighted in grey. Pirelli P6 195-60HR15 tyres are matched to these rims.
While it is not essential that this particular brand of tyre is used for replacement, it is important that a good quality 60 series low aspect ratio tyre is fitted to prevent handling deterioration, tyre fouling and incorrect speedometer readings.
